Module 8

OLI Review: This week we took a post test for the OLI material. I found it easier to identify conflict, and and to respond to it properly. Going through the post test questions, I understood why the material is so useful and applicable to team scenarios throughout the course. Luckily, I was assigned to a great team, and haven't had to use any of the conflict resolution methods mentioned in the OLI. Part 1: Video Evaluations of Other Teams Super4 Web Solutions Videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdvpwHH512I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BF65ge1WfYw Evaluation: The topic is well covered and researched. Video production wasn't too bad for the quality expected, and the presentation was clear. I found the video interesting and all members appear to have planned their speaking parts well. Both videos are appropriate to their audiences. Bit Of Otter Videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRcDnYiPm48 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuCseqYcNAg Evaluation: The topic is well cove

Module 7

Part One: Research Video Project Planning For our video, each team member recorded their own voice files to add to the video. Personally, I used my Mac's built-in Voice Memo application to record both my parts the for casual and professional videos, and I used my Mac's built-in microphone since my earbuds had a lower quality mic. I uploaded both my voice files to our team Discord server. Luis volunteered to edit the videos, since he is more experienced with video editing software. He took all of our voice files and combined them to create both videos. The process was pretty smooth, in large part due to Luis's initiative and prior video editing knowledge. Also, all other team members recorded their parts in a timely manner to avoid delays. The hardest part for myself was the actual recording process. It took quite a few takes to record my voice. I wouldn't say I would do anything differently. We got lucky in that Luis was already so good at editing videos. If that had n

Module 6

Capstone Ideas: We had several ideas from each group member. Luis's three ideas were a musical instrument tuning app, a 2D game, and a database management program. Edward had an idea for a seating chart application. He also suggested an education app that can function as an all-in-one program to replace many classroom applications (similar to Google Classroom). Victoria had idea for an app to facilitate communication between teachers and parents, an idea for an app that lets the user know if a food item is toxic, and a fitness app that takes vitamins and medications into account. She also had an idea for an app that helps users form bookclubs. My ideas were to create an app that transcribed audio music into sheet music, an app for air quality, or home pantry app that can scan items. The ideas that stood out the most for me were the tuning app, the food toxicity app, and the seating chart app. Weekly Journal Entry: I've found the career guide referenced in this week's modul

OLI: In this week's OLI modules, I learned how to deal with conflicts strategically based on the importance of the relationship to others people in the conflict, and based on the importance of the issue at the root of the conflict. I feel most people know what strategy fits the best in each case intrinsically, but are often clouded by emotion when they play a more active part in the conflict. Part One: Comments on goals Here are my two responses to others' career goals: https://edwardscsjourney.blogspot.com/2024/01/week-4.html?sc=1707284123596#c9083625147195978098 https://lhernn.blogspot.com/2024/01/week-4-report.html?sc=1707284592516#c5205791559263303958 Part Two: Capstone My three possible choices for a capstone project are: An app that can scan barcodes and keep stock of items in a pantry A chat video app tailored for workouts using VR An internet-of-things app that makes coffee Part Three: What I learned this week I enjoyed this module because I got to learn about other cl
