Week 8

This week's material was short but I enjoyed learning about the role of firewalls in protecting networks. Also, it's the last week of class and I worked on the last project with my fellow team members. That was a great experience and I hope to work with them again. I had a few hiccups lately after trying some changes to my Mininet setup for the last lab (my Mininet version installed through UTM was missing POX and I couldn't reinstall another version that included it before the lab deadline). But other than some technical lab issues, I learned a lot from the course material and look forward to learning more about computer networks on my own as I find the field very interesting.

Module 4

 Part One: Educational Goals My goal in the CS program is to gain a well-rounded computer science skillset that will prepare me for a career as a software engineer. Looking at course descriptions for courses available within the program, and my own experience outside the classroom, I believe this goal is achievable. I also plan to complete at least one internship by the end of next summer. Based on conversations with recruiters, I've learned that internship experience will greatly increase my chances of obtaining a full-time position. Module 8

 OLI Review: This week we took a post test for the OLI material. I found it easier to identify conflict, and and to respond to it properly. Going through the post test questions, I understood why the material is so useful and applicable to team scenarios throughout the course. Luckily, I was assigned to a great team, and haven't had to use any of the conflict resolution methods mentioned in the OLI. Week 4

For this week, one of my assignments was to reflect on completing my Markov program, and compare my reflections to those of my teammates. Who did you work with? You can work with up to three people For this exercise, Luis Hernandez and Edward Torres. What was your strategy for solving the Markov assignment? Did you start writing code right away? Did you plan it out on paper? I typically read the instructions in the prompt first to get a mental picture of how the program should work, and how the different parts of it interact. I also reviewed the lab video since I couldn't attend the session live. When reading through the prompt, the driver file, and the test file, I also try to identify which methods or classes need to be written first. I usually choose to implement methods that don't depend on others first.
